The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
