The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a Great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
