Ah! would that there had been between me and thee, the distance of the east and the west an evil companion 38 It shall not profit you today, since you did evil, that you are partners in the chastisement. 39 Wherefore canst thou make the deaf to hear, or canst thou guide the blind or him who is is error manifest? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 or make you see the end that We had promised them, for We have full power over them. 42 So, hold fast to the Book that has been revealed to you, you are surely on the right path, 43 and, verily, this [revelation] shall indeed become [a source of] eminence for thee and thy people: but in time you all will be called to account [for what you have done with it]. 44 Ask those of Our Messengers We sent before thee: Have We appointed, apart from the All-merciful, gods to be served? 45
