Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 A revelation from [God], the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful -- 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 Say: 'I am only a mortal, like you are. To me it has been revealed that your God is One God; so go straight with Him, and ask for His forgiveness; and woe to the idolaters 6 Those who give not the Zakat and they are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
