O believers, obey God and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him when you hear (him speak); 20 Be not as those who say, we hear, and they hear not. 21 ۞ The worst of creatures in the eyes of God are those who are deaf and dumb and devoid of sense. 22 Had Allah known any good in them, He would have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, they would [still] have turned away, while they were refusing. 23 O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and the messenger when He calleth you to that which quickeneth you, and know that Allah cometh in between the man and his own heart, and that He it is unto Whom ye will be gathered. 24 And fear the Fitnah (affliction and trial, etc.) which affects not in particular (only) those of you who do wrong (but it may afflict all the good and the bad people), and know that Allah is Severe in punishment. 25 Remember, when you were few and powerless in the land, afraid of despoliation at the hands of men. But then God sheltered and helped you to strength, and provided for you good things that you may perhaps be grateful. 26 Believers! Do not be unfaithful to Allah and the Messenger, nor be knowingly unfaithful to your trusts. 27 Know well that your belongings and your children are but a trial, and that with Allah there is a mighty reward. 28
