And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me 12 And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron. 13 besides, they accuse me of a crime, and I fear that they may put me to death." 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 He said: I did it then when I was mistaken. 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. But [since] then my Sustainer has endowed me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and has made me one of [His] message-bearers. 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 Said Pharaoh: "And what [and who] is that 'Sustainer of all the worlds'?" 23 Moses replied, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you want to be certain". 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 Said he, 'Surely your Messenger who was sent to you is possessed!' 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 Fir'awn said: if thou wilt take a god other than me, I shall surely place thee among the prisoners. 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" 31 Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, 32 and he drew his hand (out of his armpit) and lo! it had become a shining object to the beholders. 33
