۞ No sooner the example of the son of Mary was mentioned than, lo and behold, your people raised a clamour 57 And they say, “Are our deities better or he?” They did not say this to you except to unjustly argue; in fact they are a quarrelsome people. 58 He ['Iesa (Jesus)] was not more than a slave. We granted Our Favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father). 59 And if it were Our Will, We could make angels from amongst you, succeeding each other on the earth. 60 And lo! verily there is knowledge of the Hour. So doubt ye not concerning it, but follow Me. This is the right path. 61 And let not the Satan hinder you; verily he is unto you an enemy manifest. 62 And when (Prophet) Jesus came with clear signs, he said: 'I have come to you with wisdom and to clarify to you some of the matters about which you differ. Fear Allah and obey me. 63 Allah is my Lord and your Lord; therefore, serve Him. That is the Straight Way.” 64 Then the sects differed among themselves. Woe then unto those who do Wrong because of the torment of an afflictive Day. 65 They await but the Hour: that it should come upon them of a sudden, while they perceive not. 66 On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing. 67
