The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
