The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a Great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 it is a written record. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
