The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
