The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
