Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
