The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
