Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Rather, the human desires to continue in his immorality, 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
