The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
