The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the close of night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
