The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great tidings! 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
