Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And those that glide with ease (upon the sea) 3 and the partitioners, 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 your ideas are confused. 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. 23
