The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 and a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the swollen sea, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
