The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
