The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
