The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and so am I: 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
