The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
