The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
