۞ Say: 'O my people who have been prodigal against yourselves, do not despair of God's mercy; surely God forgives sins altogether; surely He is the All-forgiving, the All-compassionate. 53 Turn unto your Lord repentant, and surrender unto Him, before there come unto you the doom, when ye cannot be helped. 54 "And follow the best of that which is sent down to you from your Lord (i.e. this Quran, do what it orders you to do and keep away from what it forbids), before the torment comes on you suddenly while you perceive not!" 55 Lest any soul should say: 'Sadly, I have neglected my duty to Allah and was of those that mocked' 56 Or (lest) he should say: "If only Allah had guided me, I should indeed have been among the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2)." 57 or lest he should say, when he becomes aware of the suffering [that awaits him,] "Would that I had a second chance [in life,] so that I could be among the doers of good!" 58 It will be said to him, “Surely yes, why not?* My signs did come to you, so you denied them and you were haughty and you were a disbeliever.” (They will be mocked at.) 59 And you will see on the Day of Resurrection the fabricators of lies against Allah, with their faces blackened; is not the destination of the haughty in hell? 60 But Allah will deliver the righteous to their place of salvation: no evil shall touch them, nor shall they grieve. 61 Allah is Creator of all things, and He is Guardian over all things. 62 To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. It is those who disbelieve in Allah's Signs who will be the losers. 63
