Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
KAF HA YA 'AIN SAD. 1 A mention of the Mercy of your Lord to his worshiper Zachariah, 2 when he cried to his Lord in secret. 3 He submitted, “O my Lord – my bones have become weak and old age shines forth from my head, and O my Lord, I have never been disappointed in my prayer to you.” 4 And verily I fear my kindred after me, and my wife hath been barren; so bestow on me from before Thee an heir. 5 Who will be heir to me, and heir to the house of Jacob; and make him obedient to You, O Lord." 6 O Zakariyya! verily We give thee the glad tidings of a boy: his name shall be Yahya; We have not afore-time made his namesake. 7 "My Lord!" [said Zachariah], "How shall I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached such extreme old age?" 8 (The angel) answered: "Thus will it be. Your Lord said: 'This is easy for Me; for when I brought you into being you were nothing.' 9 He said: "O Lord, give me a token." "Though sound," He answered, "you will not talk to any one for three nights running." 10 So he came forth unto his people from the Sanctuary, then he made signal to them, 'Give you glory at dawn and evening.' 11 [Allah] said, "O John, take the Scripture with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy 12 And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah 13 and cherishing to his parents. Never was he insolent or rebellious. 14 So peace on him the day he was born, the day he will die, and the day that he will be raised from the dead. 15
