The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
