۞ And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud. 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 Jesus was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel. 59 Had We wanted, We could have made the angels as your successors on the earth. 60 And most surely it is a knowledge of the hour, therefore have no doubt about it and follow me: this is the right path. 61 And let not the Shaitan prevent you; surely he is your open enemy. 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 Verily Allah! He is my lord and your Lord, so worship Him: this is the straight path. 64 Then the factions fell apart among themselves. So woe to the wrong-doers from the chastisement of a grievous Day. 65 Are they looking for anything except the Hour (to overtake them). It will come upon them suddenly when they are unaware! 66 Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 67
