The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.
