The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A book inscribed, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
