۞ Have you not seen the hypocrites? They say to their brothers among the People of the Book who disbelieve, 'If they expel you, we will go with you. We will never obey anyone against you. If they fight against you we will certainly help you' But Allah bears witness that they are, without doubt, liars. 11 If they are expelled, they will not leave with them, and if they are fought, they will not aid them. And [even] if they should aid them, they will surely turn their backs; then [thereafter] they will not be aided. 12 Their fear of you in their hearts is greater than their fear of Allah; that is because they are a people who do not understand. 13 They will not fight you (even) together, except in fortified townships, or from behind walls. Strong is their fighting (spirit) amongst themselves: thou wouldst think they were united, but their hearts are divided: that is because they are a people devoid of wisdom. 14 Like those before them shortly; they tasted the evil result of their affair, and they shall have a painful punishment. 15 They are like Satan, who says to man, "Deny the truth!" but when man denied the truth, said, "I disown you; I fear God, the Lord of the Universe." 16 Wherefore the end of the twain will be that they will be in the Fire, as abiders there in; that is the meed of the wrong-doers. 17
