The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
