The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 that hide, 16 And the close of night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
