He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him thou attendest 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruit and grass - 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
