The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
