The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 and they said: "Are we to follow one single mortal, one from among ourselves? In that case, behold, we would certainly sink into error and folly! 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 40
