Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
