The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
