The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
