The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)

CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
