The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the early hours of the day, 1 And by the night when it is still (or darkens); 2 Thy Lord has neither forsaken thee nor hates thee 3 for, indeed, the life to come will be better for thee than this earlier part [of thy life]! 4 And verily, your Lord will give you (all i.e. good) so that you shall be well-pleased. 5 Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter? 6 Did He not find you unaware of the Right Way, and then directed you to it? 7 And did He not find you in need and make you rich? 8 Wherefore as to the orphan, be thou not unto him overbearing. 9 Therefor the beggar drive not away, 10 but proclaim the blessings of your Lord. 11
