Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 "So He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a stated Term: for when the Term given by Allah is accomplished, it cannot be put forward: if ye only knew." 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 and indeed, I spoke to them both publicly and in secret: 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will send the heaven upon you copiously; 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
