The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And no trifle. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
