The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And accepts the best, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
