Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

By oath of the sun and its light 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 And by oath of the earth and by oath of Him Who spread it. 6 and by the soul and by Him Who perfectly proportioned it, 7 And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it. 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
