Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
