۞ God says: 'Take not to you two gods. He is only One God; so have awe of Me.' 51 His is whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and obedience to Him inevitably pervades the whole universe. Will you, then, hold in awe any other than Allah? 52 And ye have no good thing but is from Allah: and moreover, when ye are touched by distress, unto Him ye cry with groans; 53 And afterward, when He hath rid you of the misfortune, behold! a set of you attribute partners to their Lord, 54 (As if) to show their ingratitude for the favours we have bestowed on them! then enjoy (your brief day): but soon will ye know (your folly)! 55 They set aside a portion of the food We have given them for those they do not know. By God, you will surely have to answer for all you contrive! 56 They assign daughters to God, glory be to Him!, but for themselves [sons] that they desire to have. 57 When the glad news of the birth of their daughter is brought to them, their faces turn gloomy and black with anger. 58 He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide. 59 For those who believe not in the Hereafter is an evil similitude, and Allah's is the Sublime Similitude. He is the Mighty, the Wise. 60
