۞ (O Muhammad), propound a parable to them. There were two men of whom We bestowed upon one of the two vineyards, surrounding both of them with date-palms and putting a tillage in between. 32 Each of the two gardens yielded its produce and did not fail in the least and We made a river to gush through them, 33 so he had fruit. As he spoke with his companion, as he was conversing with him, 'My wealth is more abundant than yours and men have a greater respect for me' 34 And when, having wronged himself, he entered his garden, he said: 'I do not think that this will ever perish! 35 “I do not think that the Last Day will ever be established – and even if I return to my Lord I will surely find a haven better than this garden.” 36 His friend said to him, "How can you disbelieve in the One who turned clay into sperm out of which He created you? 37 "But as for my part (I believe) that He is Allah, my Lord and none shall I associate as partner with my Lord. 38 It was better for you to say, when you entered your garden: 'That which Allah wills (will come to pass)! There is no power but with Allah '. If you see me less than you in wealth, and children. 39 Yet it may be that my Lord will give me better than thy garden, and will send on it a bolt from heaven, and some morning it will be a smooth hillside, 40 "Or the water of the garden will run off underground so that thou wilt never be able to find it." 41 And his fruits were encompassed [by ruin], so he began to turn his hands about [in dismay] over what he had spent on it, while it had collapsed upon its trellises, and said, "Oh, I wish I had not associated with my Lord anyone." 42 And he had no group to help him against Allah, nor was he capable of taking revenge. 43 Here brought to light is that the authority is only for Allah, the True; the reward He bestows is the best, and believing in Him has the best outcome. 44
