Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
