The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and hastily turned away, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
